Background: An only child (though she had a younger sister who died in childhood), she was raised by both parents. She grew up feeling isolated and ignored by her parents, who often did not spend much time or attention on her. Her parents travelled frequently. She was raised in an upper middle class family, and did well in school. She began to focus on school and school activities as a way to avoid going home. As a result, she was involved in many school activities. She was an honor student whose strongest subject was math. She was well-liked by her peers. It wasn't until her senior year of high school that she began to exhibit signs of depression, and was sent to Cherry Hollow after graduation.
Personality: Joanie is a friendly, outgoing girl who is very pleasant and easygoing. She likes for everyone around her to be happy and hates discord. She is very social, but can also shy away easily if she feels confronted or disliked. She is very methodical and particular, especially in regards to neatness and her appearance. She is a strong believer in unspoken "rules" that she feels everyone determines in their life, that others must conform to in order to be "acceptable".
